Active Learning Communities
Overview
Milken Institute Strategic Philanthropy established the Philanthropy Leadership Collective (PLC) as a collection of active learning communities designed to foster peer engagement, deepen funder connections, and cultivate meaningful collaboration.
Convening Communities in Science and Corporate Philanthropy
The SPARC Collective convenes philanthropic funders and science impact leaders interested in advancing biomedical research and deepening the impact of their work. While members’ interests span diverse disease areas—from neurodegeneration and mental health to rare disease, cancer, immunology, and other conditions—they share a desire to be bold, innovate, and drive transformative progress. Through issue-specific roundtables, scientific workshops, and platform events, members explore opportunities to accelerate therapeutic development, learn about trends and strategies shaping science funding, and share lessons learned from their own philanthropic journeys.
The Corporate PLC emphasizes peer engagement and brings together corporate philanthropy executives for intimate, invitation-only sessions where they can speak candidly about the strategic issues they face in their roles, gain support from peers, and share emerging solutions to pressing challenges.
Through these convenings, executives share insights and lessons learned to inform and strengthen strategic decision-making. Additionally, the Milken Institute develops original knowledge products that capture new models and tactical learnings that can be adopted by others.
