Women make up more than half the US population, and yet, women’s health—particularly female-specific conditions—has been chronically underfunded and understudied. At long last, the US seems to have reached an inflection point, with the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research to bolster transformative investment in research areas ranging from heart attacks in women to menopause management. Could revitalized research and investment begin to address historic disparities and inequities in women’s health? Can we translate scientific and research breakthroughs into clinical practice? Which conditions need urgent attention and where does care begin? This panel of health-care leaders will examine how the combined power of the public, private, and philanthropic sectors can advance research, prevention, treatment, and innovation in women’s health to improve the lives of women globally.
