Eva Vertes
Cancer Researcher, Department of Genetic Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College

Eva Vertes is a Cancer Researcher in the Department of Genetic Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York, where she is approaching cancer from new angles. She was first recognized for her research during high school, when she conducted Alzheimer's research for which she received the top award in medicine at the 2002 Intel International Science Fair. She has since focused her efforts on understanding cancer, specifically by analyzing which "normal" cells in the body are hijacked by the disease for its own malignant purposes. In 2007 she received a degree in molecular biology from Princeton University; she plans to pursue a medical degree and to continue research in oncology.
