Valerie Red-Horse Mohl, Cherokee, is President of Known, a firm that deploys, structures, and shifts capital for clients who believe that humanity and the planet are part of every returns equation. Known is specifically focused on eliminating racial, social and economic gaps. Known includes both a Registered Investment Advisor practice as well as an Investment Bank; a registered Broker-Dealer. Prior to this role, Valerie launched the first Native American owned investment bank on Wall Street and has over 25 years of in-depth experience as a securities principle holding six current FINRA registrations. Red-Horse Mohl has raised, structured, and managed over $4 billion in capital. She began her career working for Mike Milken and John Kissick at Drexel Burnham Lambert. Currently, partnered with Microsoft, she is developing renewable energy facilities for tribal nations on tribal lands. She is an appointee by U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen as one of the inaugural members of the Treasury Advisory Committee on Racial Equity with a focus on access to capital. She serves as the Advisory Board Chair of Stanford University’s Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity and teaches an undergraduate course on Entrepreneurship for Social Impact and Racial Equity at Stanford. She was inducted into the National Association of Women Business Owners Hall of Fame in 2008 and was recognized in 2022 as one of the Bay Area’s Most Influential Women.
