Practice Areas
We are working to drive policy, system, and environmental change in public health across three interconnected areas.
Chronic Disease Prevention
Our work in Chronic Disease Prevention catalyzes integrated, multicondition prevention systems that address the leading drivers of preventable illness and health-care costs, such as cardiometabolic risk. Through applied research and expert convenings, we connect cross-sector leaders to advance the adoption, scaling, and measurement of community-integrated prevention approaches. The Project Prevent Collaborative, anchored in Chronic Disease Prevention, brings together ecosystem leaders in a premier forum to move proven models into policy and everyday practice so prevention reaches more people.
Employer Action Exchange
The workplace is a community in and of itself that can contribute meaningfully to a healthier ecosystem. Employers have a critical role to play in advancing whole-person health by taking a stand for specific action, helping raise awareness among their employees, and taking steps to advance the health of the communities in which they operate. The Employer Action Exchange provides a trusted platform and includes expert guidance, briefings, and networking to advance customized, tangible actions on whole-person health priorities.
Mental Health
Our work in Mental Health advances research and cross-sector action to expand access to high-quality mental health services, promote innovation in scalable care models and technologies, and address the drivers of the youth mental health crisis. Through this work, we support more integrated, responsive, and accessible systems of care that improve well-being across the lifespan.
Public Health Systems
Our work in Public Health systems catalyzes more coordinated, resilient, and scalable systems, including the pharmaceutical supply chain, that improve access to essential services, medical products, and supplies; strengthen preparedness; and create the conditions for better health outcomes.
Women's Health
Advancing women’s health in the United States and globally can improve health and well-being of women, their families, and society. There is a need for practical, innovative, and scalable solutions to address the critical issues, as well as immediate action by a range of stakeholders to advance women’s health throughout the lifespan. The Milken Institute’s efforts in women’s health span research...
