Pathways to Curing Neurodegenerative Disease

Tuesday, May 7, 2024
04:00 PM - 05:00 PM PDT

As the worldwide population rapidly ages, the global burden of age-related neurodegenerative diseases is expected to increase greatly in the next decade. Despite the challenges presented by these complex diseases, we have many reasons for hope. Critical discoveries into underlying disease biology and mechanisms, integration of AI and computational tool use into the field, and gene-based medical advances are ushering in a new era of diagnostic tools and therapeutic developments. Philanthropists are working at multiple scales across the science and health ecosystem to stimulate public attention and the financial support essential to achieve critical breakthroughs in managing neurodegenerative diseases. Now is the time for big investments and bold action to ensure that an increased health span is available to everyone.
