The Cancer Diagnostics Revolution

Tuesday, May 7, 2024
04:00 PM - 05:00 PM PDT

To tackle cancer, we first need to identify it. Many cancers, if found early, have a survival rate of at least 90 percent. However, 65 percent of Americans are not up to date on at least one of their routine cancer screenings. Revolutionary cancer screening technologies entering the market are designed to take account of patient preferences and potentially expand access to, and decrease the inconvenience and discomfort of, conventional cancer screening tests. Innovative technologies—such as smart patches that can detect melanoma without an incision, a quick blood test to detect colorectal cancer, and an at-home self-collection test for cervical cancer—have the power to change how physicians diagnose cancer and increase the number of people getting screened. This panel of experts will examine the proliferation of innovative and at-home cancer-screening technologies, along with their anticipated impact on early cancer detection, increased access for patients, and effective cancer care.
