Private Breakfast Hosted by the Center for Strategic Philanthropy (Invite only)
8:00 AM - 10:00 AM
The Role of Philanthropy in Mental Health
According to the October 2018 Lancet Commission on Global Mental Health, mental health disorders are on the rise in every country in the world. If left unaddressed, they could cost the global economy up to $16 trillion between 2010 and 2030 while debilitating families and communities worldwide. The Milken Institute Center for Strategic Philanthropy (CSP) has been working with a range of partners to determine the best philanthropic avenues for tackling the global mental health crisis. In addition to convening funders, it led research for a patient-focused, drug-development meeting that united patients, regulators, and industry researchers to explore the needs of individuals living with depression. This breakfast roundtable will build on the work that CSP has started in the United States by convening key philanthropic funders who have been tackling mental health in the UK and around the world.
