Maya Horgan Famodu is the Founder & MD at Ingressive Capital, a $10 Million VC Fund I and $50 Million Fund II targeting early-stage startups across Sub-Saharan Africa’s key tech markets. Ingressive Capital Fund I seeded some of Africa’s fastest-growing businesses, including Paystack (sold for $200M+ to Stripe), Mono (Series A led by Tiger and Y Combinator alum), Carry1st (Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, Google, Riot Games & AET); ~40% of portfolio companies are female-founded and 50% of companies are Y Combinator alumni. Maya launched the first female-owned tech fund in Nigeria, and was the youngest person to launch a VC in Sub-Saharan Africa. She is a two-time Forbes 30 under 30 awardee (Africa ‘18 and VC ‘20), United Nation’s Most Influential Person of African Descent, Kauffman Fellow, and worked previously in private equity research and at JPMorgan after completing Cornell Prelaw Program and attending Pomona College. Maya and her team are constructing a pipeline from student aspiration to tech industry success. She co-founded Ingressive for Good, a nonprofit nurturing African tech talent, and Ingressive Advisory, aiding 50+ international firms in African market entry with over 60 deals. Many clients invested in her fund, enabling 80% of Ingressive Capital's partners to establish later-stage funds, facilitating global capital access for companies.
