Kanika Singh

Kanika Singh is director of innovative finance at the Milken Institute. She is responsible for executing the Institute's signature research project, Financial Innovations Labs, which is dedicated to advancing financial solutions to address market inefficiencies and failures within economic and social challenges. Her focus lies in exploring pioneering financial models that bolster resilience, particularly within the realm of climate, aiming to mitigate environmental risks and foster sustainable growth. Before joining the Milken Institute, Singh worked in the hedge fund industry in New York, where she spearheaded the development and management of the emerging markets research and strategy division. This was entrusted with formulating investment opportunities for chief investment officers and other portfolio managers across the firm, employing a cross-sectoral and global approach. As a lead economist at an independent think tank in London and Singapore, she collaborated with a wide array of clients, including investment banks, central banks, government leaders, and sovereign wealth funds. Her expertise spans rigorous macroeconomic analysis, investing in developing countries, and portfolio management in global financial markets. Throughout her career, she built and maintained relationships across various spheres, from C-suite and policy leaders to nongovernmental organizations. Beyond her professional life, she remains actively engaged in community volunteerism, particularly focusing on initiatives related to food equity and intergenerational progress. She holds a Master of Science in sustainability management from Columbia University and a Master of Science in economics from the London School of Economics.
