Alex is the Group Chief Executive of Currys, the market-leading Northern European technology retailer, where since 2018 he’s led an ambitious transformation to a world class omnichannel solutions provider. Alex was CEO of Shop Direct, now the Very Group (2012-2018) where he led the digital transformation from a declining and unprofitable catalogue retailer to the UK’s second largest e-commerce pure-play, delivering four consecutive years of record growth in sales, profits, customer satisfaction and colleague engagement. Before that, he led the successful turnaround of Lombard (2008-2012), and was commercial director at Barclays. He started his career in strategy and operations consulting with Kalchas and Bain & Company in the US, Asia and Europe. Alex is a Scholar of Worcester College, Oxford, and a non-executive director of RS Group plc.
