Milken Institute statement on the Supreme Court’s ruling that limits the EPA’s authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions

While the Supreme Court’s decision in the West Virginia v. Environment Protection Agency case limits the EPA’s authority and is a harsh setback for strategies to curb greenhouse gas emissions through national regulation, it will likely galvanize ongoing and successful efforts to scale climate innovation and infrastructure led by local communities, utilities, business leaders and impact investors.

Bi-partisan progress on climate deployment for the next several years will be anchored by interest from investors eager for higher return and less risk, recently passed infrastructure legislation; and a growing recognition in cities and states that climate resilient infrastructure must move forward at speed and scale regardless of national gridlock.
