Dan Mendelson founded Avalere in 2000, grew the firm organically as CEO, engaged ABS Capital as a minority equity partner in 2008, and sold the company to Inovalon Holdings (NASDAQ: INOV) in 2015 with 250 employees and healthcare customer base spanning life sciences, plans, and providers. He is presently an advisor to the company. Prior, Dan served as Associate Director of Health at the White House Office of Management and Budget, where he was responsible for Medicare, Medicaid, discretionary budgetary policy, and the implementation of the Balanced Budget Act healthcare provisions during the Clinton Administration. He is on the Boards of Champions Oncology (NASDAQ: CSBR) and Centrexion, and executive in Residence at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke. He previously served on the boards of Coventry Health Care (sold to Aetna in 2013), PharMerica Corporation (NYSE: PMC) and HMS holdings (NASDAQ: HMSY).
