Deputy Director, International Affairs and Business Development, State of California, Go-Biz
Awinash Bawle has served as the Deputy Director for International Affairs and Business Development at the State of California Governors Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) since May of 20170. In this capacity, he oversees the development of two-way international trade and investment opportunities for the worlds 5th largest economy. Prior to his tenure in Sacramento, Mr. Bawle spent over seven years serving as an international trade specialist in the Office of South Asia at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, DC. In this capacity, he helped reduce U.S. industry trade barriers to India, and to enable effective market access there in the infrastructure, energy and environment, and financial services sectors. Mr. Bawle advised senior Commerce officials on the agencys role in the U.S.-India Partnership to Advance Clean Energy. Mr. Bawle holds a Masters degree in International Policy Studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, which included one semester as a visiting scholar at the Jawaharlal Nehru University School of International Studies in New Delhi, India. He also holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Michigan, and is a native of Detroit, Michigan.
