John Rowe is the Julius B. Richmond Professor of Health Policy and Aging at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. From 2000 to 2006, Rowe was chairman and CEO of Aetna, Inc. Previously, he served as president and CEO of Mount Sinai NYU Health, the Mount Sinai Hospital and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Earlier, Rowe was a professor of medicine and the founding director of the division on aging at the Harvard Medical School, as well as chief of gerontology at Boston's Beth Israel Hospital. Rowe is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the board of trustees of the Rockefeller Foundation. He has received many honors and awards for his work on aging. In his business career, he was named Manager of the Year by Business Week in 2005 and listed by Harvard Business Review among the 50 most effective CEOs in the world, in all industries, for the period of 1995 to 2010.
