J. Timothy Romer

Managing Director, Goldman Sachs

J. Timothy Romer is a Managing Director in the Los Angeles-based Public Sector and Infrastructure (PSI) Banking group of Goldman Sachs. He also serves on the PSI Operating Committee. Romer joined Goldman Sachs in 2003 as a vice president and was named managing director in 2004. He has more than 25 years of experience in public-private partnerships, project finance, energy and general government finance, having been co-head and managing director of Merrill Lynch's western region public finance group and managing director in Bank of America Securities Real Estate Secured Finance Group. He also spent nearly three years as chief financial officer of Adexa Inc., a privately held supply chain software company. Romer has also been actively involved in various public-private partnerships and government privatizations, including a number of military housing P3s and privatization efforts. He has raised over $50 billion for projects using various types of financing and credit structures. Romer earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
