Frank Song
Adjunct Fellow; Founding Director, Centre for China Financial Research, University of Hong Kong


Frank Song is the founding director of the Centre for China Financial Research at the University of Hong Kong. He is also a professor at the university's School of Economics and Finance. He serves as an adjunct professor at the China Centre for Economic Research at Peking University and at the School of Economics at Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

His areas of interest include financial markets, banking, macroeconomics and China financial research.

From 1991 through 1997, Song worked as assistant professor and associate professor in the Department of Economics at Cleveland State University.

He is an academic adviser for Reform and Economics magazines, and an editorial board member of China Financial Research and the Financial Economics Journal. Song is a regular contributor to various newspapers and business/economics journals, including the Hong Kong Economic Daily, 21st Century Economic Review, the Economic Observer, Capital Markets and Modern Commercial Bank. He also appears regularly on CCTV and VOA radio.

In 2002 Thomson ranked Song among the top 500 economists in the world. He is a member of the Pan-Peal River Delta Committee and Centre Policy Unit of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
