The Milken Institute Young Leaders Circle (YLC) includes intellectually curious, motivated and philanthropic young professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who support the Milken Institute and its mission. With more than 300 members in Los Angeles, New York, London and Singapore, the Young Leaders Circle represents the best and the brightest from a wide variety of industries. YLC members are actively involved in our programs and research, and receive special invitations to private events. They are provided access to the annual Global Conference and regional Summits in California, London and Asia, where they have an opportunity to interact with global leaders from more than 60 countries.
The application process includes an online application and an interview. Applicants must be between 25 and 40 years old, live in Los Angeles, New York, London or Singapore, and have a referral from a current Milken Institute member.

Alex Rodriguez is widely regarded as one of the greatest baseball players of all time, with a 20 year career that includes 14 All-Star appearances, three American League Most Valuable Player Awards, ten Silver Slugger Awards, and two Gold Glove Awards. He has played for the New York Yankees since 2004 and helped lead the club to a World Championship in 2009. Prior to his career with the Yankees, Mr. Rodriguez played shortstop for the Seattle Mariners (1994-2000) and the Texas Rangers (2001-2003). In 1993, he was drafted as the #1 pick directly into the major leagues after graduating in 1993 from Westminster Christian School in Miami, Florida.
Perhaps less widely known, Mr. Rodriguez is the Founder and CEO of A-ROD Corp, a private holding company with businesses in the U.S. and Latin America. Under his leadership, Mr. Rodriguez has turned A-ROD Corp into a significant investment vehicle focusing on several growth sectors including multi-unit, luxury, and commercial real estate, high-end fitness centers and automotive dealerships. His long-term vision, coupled with his ability to bring highly experienced management teams together and his willingness to raise capital, has built a track record of positive returns for investors and partners.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Rodriguez actively pursues specific philanthropic initiatives. A primary focus is the Boys and Girls Club where he spent his youth and where he has dedicated the last 20 years volunteering, supporting and helping to create life-changing environments for at-risk youth. He currently serves on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Miami-Dade. Mr. Rodriguez is also a Board of Trustee member at the University of Miami (UM), where the baseball stadium is named after him and where he started a scholarship for Boys and Girls Club alumni to pursue their undergraduate degrees. Additionally, he holds an honorary UM degree.

Today, Quiksilver, Inc. is a globally diversified, world leader in outdoor lifestyle apparel with their three main brands of Quiksilver, Roxy and DC. Quiksilver, Inc. has over 7,000 employees, operates in over 90 countries and has close to 900 retail stores in the world.
Bob currently resides in Laguna Beach, CA with his wife Annette and their three children, Kristi, Roxy and Robbie. Both Kristi and Roxy work in Public Relations and Marketing. Robbie is currently a sophomore at USC where he is majoring in Business and plays on the USC Men's Volleyball Team.
Bob is also on the Board of Otis College of Art and Design, The Wrigley Institute, The Ocean Institute in Dana Point, and Jones Trading and Associates.
In his spare time Bob enjoys surfing, snowboarding, diving and playing beach volleyball.

Jay is the world's 11th most patented living inventor. He is a named inventor on more than 700 U.S. patents. His inventions provide unique business systems and solutions across a dozen different industries.
A noted expert on imagination, Jay created and curates one of the world's great private libraries: The Library of The History of Human Imagination. Filled with books, manuscripts, historical artifacts and treasures of all kinds, especially in the field of medicine, the facility was described by Wired magazine as "the most amazing library in the world."
In addition to serving as an active member of The President's Circle of the National Academies, Jay is also a member of The Atlantic Council and the non-profit TED.
Jay his wife Eileen live in Connecticut. Eileen is currently a Trustee of Cornell University and serves on the Board of Directors of eCornell, Cornell's distance learning subsidiary. She held an executive position in Human Resources with IBM for 18 years. Jay and Eileen have two grown children, Lindsey and Evan, and a daughter-in-law, Jackie.
