Greg Margolies is the head of the Capital Markets Group and sits on the Executive Committee of Ares Management LLC, an asset management firm with approximately $50 billion in AUM with a focus on alternative assets. Ares has approximately 500 employees with offices in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Dallas, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Stockholm and Shanghai. Margolies oversees the Capital Markets Group, which manages approximately $24 billion in long-only and alternative strategies principally in below-investment-grade credit. Margolies joined Ares from Merrill Lynch & Co., where he was a managing director and the global head of leveraged finance and capital commitments. He was also a member of the Executive Committee for the global investment banking group. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Margolies was the co-head of the DB Capital Mezzanine Fund. He serves on the board of the International Organization for Women & Development and the Advisory Council of the University of Michigan's Life Science Institute. Margolies holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.
