M.A., International Policy Studies-Energy and Environment, Stanford University
Jonathan Strahl is one of the winners of the 2012 International Impact Investing Challenge. A student in international policy studies - energy and environment at Stanford University, he is interested in learning how public policy can create economically and environmentally efficient incentives to transform the energy sector. Strahl, who gained an appreciation for the environment growing up in a small town in Oregon, plans to pursue a career at the intersection of energy policy, international development and impact investing. He hopes to find creative methods for encouraging sustainable development of emerging market economies while protecting human rights and natural resources. Strahl was valedictorian of Claremont McKenna College and served a year as a Fulbright English teaching assistant at an Islamic boarding school in Makassar, Indonesia. Upon returning to the U.S., he worked for a residential energy-efficiency startup before coming to Stanford. Last summer, he was a MAP Fellow at the World Resources Institute in Washington, D.C.
