Gerry Wang is CEO, co-chairman and co-founder of Seaspan Corp., an independent owner of container ships. Seaspan's fleet consists of 76 container vessels with an asset value of approximately $7 billion. Wang spearheaded Seaspan's container ship business in 1999 amid economic hard times. In 2005, he successfully took Seaspan's container ship business public, and he was subsequently appointed CEO and director of the newly founded public company, Seaspan Corp. The offering was the largest shipping IPO in North American history. Wang holds a bachelor's degree in navigation from Shanghai Maritime University and a master's degree in international economics and management from a program sponsored by United Nations' Economic and Social Commission of Asia Pacific. In 1993 he obtained an M.B.A. from the University of British Columbia.
