Alan Schwartz
Executive Chairman, Guggenheim Partners
Alan Schwartz has been executive chairman of Guggenheim Partners, a financial services firm, since 2009. He is the former chief executive of The Bear Stearns Cos. At Bear Stearns, he served as president and chief operating officer, as executive vice president and co-head of investment banking, and in other financial management positions. He previously worked in various capacities with Wertheim & Co. and R.W. Pressprich & Co. He earned a bachelor's degree in management science from Duke University in 1972. He has been a member of the Duke Board of Trustees since 2005 and has served as chairman of the university's Fuqua School of Business Board of Visitors and as a member of the Athletic Advisory Board. Schwartz is a member of the boards of the Robin Hood Foundation, St. Vincent's Services, Marvin & Palmer Associates, MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, the American Foundation for AIDS Research and the NYU Langone Medical Center.
