Tony Ressler is a founding partner of Ares Management LLC, which has approximately $50 billion in assets under management and focuses on alternative assets. Founded in 1997, Ares has 500 employees and offices in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Dallas, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Stockholm and Shanghai. In 1990 Ressler co-founded Apollo Management, LP, a private investment firm. Prior to 1990, he was a senior vice president in the High Yield Bond Department of Drexel Burnham Lambert. Ressler sits on the boards of Ares Management and several companies controlled by Ares funds. He also serves on various nonprofit boards, including the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He is founder and co-chairman of the Los Angeles-based Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools, a high-performing group of 20 charter high schools and middle schools. He received a B.S.F.S. from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and an M.B.A. from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business.
