Raghuram Rajan

Raghuram Rajan is the Eric J. Gleacher distinguished service professor of finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also serves as an economic advisor to the prime minister of India. From 2003 to 2006, he was the chief economist at the International Monetary Fund. Rajan's research interests are in banking, corporate finance and economic development, especially the role finance plays in it. His 2003 book (with Luigi Zingales) entitled "Saving Capitalism from the Capitalists" was followed by "Fault Lines: How Hidden Fractures Still Threaten the World Economy," which was awarded the Financial Times-Goldman Sachs prize for best business book in 2010. Rajan is a senior advisor to Booz and Co., BDT Capital and MCAP and sits on the international advisory board of Bank Itau-Unibanco. A recipient of the Fischer Black Prize of the American Finance Association, Rajan was the president of the association in 2011. He is also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
