Niall Ferguson is the Laurence A. Tisch Professor of History at Harvard University, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and a senior research fellow at Jesus College, University of Oxford. A commentator on politics and economics, he is a columnist for Newsweek and contributing editor for Bloomberg TV as well as an advisor to architects Foster & Partners, the hedge fund GLG Partners and merchant bank Kleinwort Benson. He sits on the boards of the American Academy in Berlin, the Museum of American Finance and the New York Historical Society. He has published 12 books. In 2003 he wrote and presented a six-part history of the British Empire for Channel 4. The accompanying book, "Empire: The Rise and Demise of the British World Order and the Lessons for Global Power," was a bestseller in Britain and the U.S. The book "The Ascent of Money: A Financial History of the World" in 2008 was also an Emmy-winning PBS series Ferguson's Chimerica Media recently released a documentary about Henry Kissinger, whose biography he is writing.
