Barry Eichengreen

Barry Eichengreen is the George C. Pardee and Helen N. Pardee Professor of Economics and Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge and a research fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London. In 1997-1998 Eichengreen was senior policy advisor at the International Monetary Fund. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the convener of the Bellagio Group of academics and economic officials. Eichengreen, who has held Guggenheim and Fulbright fellowships, received the Schumpeter Prize in 2010 and was named one of Foreign Policy's "100 Leading Global Thinkers" in 2011. He is the author of several books, most recently "Exorbitant Privilege: The Rise and Fall of the Dollar and the Future of the International Monetary System." He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and three master's degrees and a Ph.D. from Yale University.
