Jared Bernstein

Jared Bernstein is a senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities and the economic policy fellow at the Milken Institute. From 2009 to 2011, he was chief economist and economic advisor to Vice President Joe Biden, executive director of the White House Task Force on the Middle Class, and a member of President Obama's economic team. His expertise includes economic and fiscal policies, income inequality and mobility, employment and earnings trends, and financial and housing markets. Previously Bernstein was senior economist and director of the Living Standards Program at the Economic Policy Institute and deputy chief economist at the U.S. Department of Labor. He is the author of several books, including "Crunch: Why Do I Feel So Squeezed?" and nine editions of "The State of Working America." Bernstein has published extensively in leading academic and media outlets. He is a commentator for CNBC and MSNBC and hosts jaredbernsteinblog.com. Bernstein holds a Ph.D. in social welfare from Columbia University.
