Sir Ronald Cohen
Chairman, Big Society Capital and The Portland Trust
Sir Ronald Cohen is chairman of The Portland Trust, Bridges Ventures and Big Society Capital. He is also a director of Social Finance USA. Cohen chaired the UK's Social Investment Task Force (2000-2010) and its Commission on Unclaimed Assets (2005-2007). He was co-founder and chairman of Apax Partners, now one of the world's leading private equity investment groups; founder-director and chairman of the British Venture Capital Association; and founder-director of the European Venture Capital Association. He was also a founder and former vice chairman of Easdaq and former director of Nasdaq Europe. In 2007, Cohen published "The Second Bounce of the Ball: Turning Risk into Opportunity." A member of the Harvard University Board of Overseers and several investment committees, he received a bachelor's degree from Oxford University, where he was president of the Oxford Union, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
