Michael Polsky is the founder, president and CEO of Invenergy, which develops and owns various power-generation reserves with an emphasis on renewable resources. With 30 years of experience in energy, he is recognized as a pioneer and leader in the co-generation and independent power industry in North America. In 1991, Polsky founded SkyGen Energy and built one of the most successful teams in the independent energy industry. In 2001, SkyGen was purchased by Calpine Corp., which named Polsky a senior executive while he continued in his role as CEO of SkyGen. Prior to forming SkyGen, he co-founded and was president of Indeck Energy Services, where he led the development and financing of one of the first portfolios of independent power-generating assets. In 2002, Polsky endowed a center for entrepreneurship, which is named after him, at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Polsky holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and an M.S.M.E. degree from Kiev Polytechnic Institute.
