David Malpass

David Malpass is the chief international economist at Bear Stearns & Co., where he produces economic and financial studies and discusses financial market conditions with institutional investors. Focusing on Latin America and Asia, Malpass's work has also covered covering Europe, Turkey, Eastern Europe, and other regions. Between 1984 and 1993, Malpass held several posts in the U.S. government, including six years with Secretary James Baker at the Treasury and State Departments; his work encompassed international finance and economic issues as well as work on the U.S. budget and on economic and trade legislation. Malpass writes frequently for publication and his articles periodically appear in the Wall Street Journal.
