Chris Meledandri
Founder and CEO, Illumination Entertainment
Chris Meledandri is the founder and CEO of Illumination Entertainment, which has an exclusive financing and distribution partnership with Universal Pictures. The company released its first film, "Despicable Me," in July 2010, followed by "Hop" in April 2011. Before joining Illumination, Meledandri spent 13 years at 20th Century Fox, where he became founding president of 20th Century Fox Animation. The animation company amassed more than $2 billion in global box-office revenue under his eight years of leadership. He supervised and/or served as executive producer of such hits as "Ice Age," "Ice Age: The Meltdown," "Robots," "Alvin and the Chipmunks," "The Simpsons Movie" and "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!" He also led Fox's acquisition of the visual effects/commercial house Blue Sky Studios, now Fox's wholly owned CGI studio. Before joining Fox, Meledandri was president of Dawn Steel Pictures at Walt Disney Pictures, where he was executive producer of "Cool Runnings."
