Daniel Wattendorf

Daniel Wattendorf is a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in the Defense Sciences Office. The lieutenant colonel (USAF MC) applies methodological advances in genomics and biotechnology to optimize health and prevent disease, specifically to achieve simple solutions that improve health care at the point-of-care. He previously served as director of the Air Force Medical Genetics Center and program manager in the Office of the Air Force Surgeon General, integrating advanced diagnostics and informatics with surveillance systems. Wattendorf is also a geneticist at the National Naval Medical Center and the Cancer Genetics Branch of the National Cancer Institute within the National Institutes of Health. He is a member of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs Genomic Medicine Program Advisory Committee and the Institute of Medicine's Roundtable on Translating Genomic-Based Research for Health. He graduated from Cornell University and received a medical degree from George Washington University.
