Gina Despres

Gina Despres is senior vice president of Capital Research and Management Co., the investment advisor to the American Funds family of mutual funds, with current assets under management of more than $1 trillion, and serves as vice chairman and principal executive officer of four large global mutual funds. Prior to joining CRMC, Despres spent 12 years as tax counsel and foreign policy advisor to U.S. Sen. Bill Bradley. Previously Despres worked for the Department of Energy and practiced with law firms in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. She studied Chinese language and literature at the University of California, Berkeley, including 18 months of intensive language training in Taiwan and Hong Kong as a National Defense Foreign Language fellow. She received a B.A. from the University of Sydney and a J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
