Nicholas Carr is the author of "The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains," "The Big Switch: Rewiring the World, From Edison to Google" and "Does IT Matter? Information Technology and the Corrosion of Competitive Advantage." Carr has been a columnist for The Guardian and has written for The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Wired, The Sunday Times (London), The New Republic and the Financial Times. His essay "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" was included in the anthologies "The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2009," "The Best Technology Writing 2009" and "The Best Spiritual Writing 2010." Carr, who writes the blog Rough Type, sits on the Encyclopedia Britannica's editorial board of advisors and the steering board of the World Economic Forum's cloud computing project. Previously, he was executive editor of the Harvard Business Review. He holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.A. in English and American literature and language from Harvard University.
