Mohamed El-Erian
CEO and Co-Chief Investment Officer, PIMCO
Mohamed El-Erian is CEO and co-chief investment officer of PIMCO, with $1.3 trillion in assets under management. Now in his second stint at PIMCO, he left in 2006-2007 to serve as president and CEO of Harvard Management Co., managing its endowment fund and related assets, and as a faculty member of Harvard Business School. He joined PIMCO from Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup in London. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at the International Monetary Fund. He is a board member of the National Bureau for Economic Research, Cambridge in America, the Carnegie Foundation for International Peace and the Peterson Institute for International Economics, and chairs Microsoft's Investment Advisory Committee. Twice named one of Foreign Policy's "Top 100 Global Thinkers," he has written widely on global economic and financial issues, including the 2008 best-seller "When Markets Collide." El-Erian received a bachelor's degree from the University of Cambridge, and master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Oxford.
