Ardis Hoven is Chair-Elect of the Board of Trustees of the American Medical Association (AMA). A fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Disease Society of America, she has been a member of the AMA′s Board of Trustees since 2005. She previously served as a member and chair of the AMA Council on Medical Service, contributing to AMA policy on access to health care, covering the uninsured, and Medicare and Medicaid reform. Hoven has also held a variety of positions at her local hospital, including president of the medical staff, board member and president of the foundation board. She is medical director of the Bluegrass Care Clinic, an infectious disease and HIV/AIDS practice. Hoven received a bachelor′s degree and a medical degree from the University of Kentucky. She completed her internal medicine and infectious disease training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
