Keng Yong Ong

Keng Yong Ong is Director of the Institute of Policy Studies at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. He is also ambassador-at-large in the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Singapore's non-resident ambassador to Iran. In 2008, Ong was a visiting research fellow at the Centre on Contemporary Central Asia and the Caucasus in the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. Previously he was secretary-general of ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and has had a multifaceted diplomatic career. From 1998 to 2002, Ong served as press secretary to the prime minister of Singapore. He has held senior appointments in the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, and the People's Association in Singapore. Ong graduated from the former University of Singapore and earned a master's degree from Georgetown University.
