William McDonough
Executive Vice President, United Food and Commercial Workers International Union
William McDonough is Executive Vice President of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW). He brings three decades of experience as a union builder and rank-and-file organizer to his role as UFCW's collective bargaining director. He has established a multi-layered, union-wide UFCW core industry organizing program to build UFCW density and member power at the bargaining table. He was previously director of UFCW Region 8-Western, serving in that position during the historic southern California strike, when UFCW members focused the nation's attention on the country's health-care crisis. He has been a union activist since his days as a stock boy at Filene's department store in Boston in the 1970s. McDonough received a bachelor's degree from the University of Lowell (now the University of Massachusetts, Lowell).
