Jean-Yves Caneill

Jean-Yves Caneill is Head of Environmental Affairs with the EDF Group, a leading European energy provider. He has been involved in the European and international debate on climate change in recent years. Caneill originally joined what was then Electricité de France in its R&D Division. After working on meteorological models and nuclear safety, he launched the first project at EDF devoted to the climate issue in 1990. In 1995, he became involved in the design of the EU's emissions trading scheme (ETS) directive, managing research projects on the economic consequences of carbon constraints for the management of power-generation units. Caneill received an engineering degree from the École Nationale Supérieure des Techniques Avancées in Paris and a Ph.D. from Pierre & Marie Curie University (Paris VI).
