Spencer Abraham

Spencer Abraham is Chairman and CEO of The Abraham Group, a strategic consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. He served as Secretary of Energy during President George W. Bush's first term and helped devise the first national energy plan in over a decade. As part of this plan, he led efforts to broaden international energy partnerships and spearheaded efforts in hydrogen fuel cell research and the expansion of clean coal technology programs and safe nuclear power. After September 11, he increased the safety of America's nuclear stockpiles and expanded the department's focus on nuclear nonproliferation programs. He previously served as U.S. senator from Michigan. Abraham is non-executive chairman of AREVA Inc. and a member of the board of Occidental Petroleum, as well as a distinguished visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution. A Fox News analyst, he periodically contributes op-ed pieces to the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Weekly Standard and others. Abraham received a law degree from Harvard University, where he co-founded the Federalist Society.
