Rick Boucher

Rick Boucher is a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Serving his 13th term as a Democratic representative from Virginia, he is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where he serves on three subcommittees: Energy and Air Quality, of which he is the chairman; Telecommunications and the Internet; and Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection. As chairman of the Energy and Air Quality Subcommittee, he is uniquely positioned to influence federal legislation relating to a broad range of energy issues, including electricity generation and markets, coal use, pipeline safety, refineries and the Clean Air Act. Boucher's subcommittee is drafting legislation to promote U.S. energy independence through the development of alternative fuels, to promote energy efficiency and to institute greenhouse gas emissions controls. He also sits on the House Judiciary Committee, where he serves on the Subcommittee for the Courts, the Internet and Intellectual Property Subcommittee. Boucher received a bachelor's degree from Roanoke College and a J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School.
