Andrew Alper
Chairman, EQA Partners LP
Andrew Alper is Chairman of EQA Partners LP, an asset management firm specializing in global macro and currency strategies. He started his career on Wall Street with Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he spent 21 years as an investment banker, co-head of the Financial Innovations group and chief operating officer of the Investment Banking Division. In 2002, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg asked Alper to head the city's Economic Development Corporation. In his four and a half years of city service, Alper worked to stabilize and rebuild Lower Manhattan, bringing jobs and economic growth back to the area in the aftermath of 9-11. Alper serves as vice chairman of the board of trustees of the University of Chicago and is a member of the visiting committee of the university's graduate school of business. He also serves as a trustee of the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and as a director of FBR Capital Markets Corp. Alper received a bachelor's degree in economics and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
