Frank Douglas
Senior Fellow, Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation
Frank Douglas is a Senior Fellow at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and a renowned innovator in pharmaceutical research and development. He is also a partner of PureTech Ventures and was the founder and first executive director of the Center for Biomedical Innovation, which is affiliated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). At MIT he served as professor of the practice at the MIT Sloan School of Management; he also held appointments in the departments of biology and biological engineering, and in the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. Formerly, Douglas was executive vice president and chief scientific officer of Aventis, where he headed drug innovation and approval, with global responsibilities for research, development and regulatory and marketing support. Douglas received a 2007 Black History Makers Award. He received a Ph.D. and an M.D. from Cornell University. He completed his internship and residency at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions and a fellowship at the National Institutes of Health.
