Andy  Rothman
Andy Rothman
China Macro Strategist, CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets (Shanghai)

Andy Rothman is the China Macro Strategist at CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets in Shanghai. He joined CLSA in 2000 and provides institutional investors with analysis of economic and political trends in China, as well as assessments of China's impact on regional economies. Rothman first went to China in 1980 as a student and returned in 1984 as an American diplomat. His 17-year career in the U.S. Foreign Service was focused on China, including an assignment as director of the Macroeconomic and Domestic Policy Office of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. He also helped negotiate the normalization of U.S. ties with Vietnam.
