He analyzes politics, American government, and campaigns and elections. The principal co-author of The Almanac of American Politics, he has written many books on U.S. politics and history. Barone has previously served as a senior staff editor for Reader's Digest, a member of the Washington Post editorial board and vice president of Peter D. Hart Research Associates. He received a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a bachelor of laws degree from Yale Law School.
