Ted Sanders
Chairman and CEO, Cardean Learning Group; former Acting U.S. Secretary of Education
Ted Sanders is the Chairman and CEO for the Cardean Learning Group, as well as the former Acting U.S. Secretary of Education. Cardean is a privately held company that develops and delivers online education, including an online MBA program. Previously, he was president of the Education Commission of the States, an organization that gathers, analyzes and disseminates information about current and emerging issues and innovations in state education policy. Sanders has a wide range of experience as an educator, including classroom teacher, chief state school officer in three states, acting U.S. secretary of education and university president. He serves on several corporate boards, including ACT Inc., Plato Learning and the Teachers Support Network. He is co-chair of the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future, and a commissioner on the Aspen Institute's Commission on No Child Left Behind. Sanders rceived his master's degree in teaching mathematics from Washington State University at Pullman and his Ed.D in educational administration and higher education from the University of Nevada at Reno.
