K-12 Science Curriculum Specialist, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools
Cindy Moss is the K-12 Science Curriculum Specialist for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She is currently on the 21st Century STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Education Federal Commission, which was formed from 400 citizens who testified before the National Science Board of National Science Foundation and given the mission to create a national policy to address STEM education issues. Moss taught biology and chemistry for 21 years and has received a Milken National Educator Award, the Radioshack National Teaching Award, the Burroughs Wellcome Fellowship and numerous other local and state teaching awards. Her doctoral work, "Which Factors in the Learning Environment Lead to Improved Scores on the NC High Stakes Test?" was published by the National Science Teachers Association. She has presented at more than 40 science and education conferences, and consulted in 12 states and four countries.
