Henny Sender is a Senior Special Writer for the "Money & Investing" section of The Wall Street Journal. She covers private equity and hedge funds, and is currently based in New York. Sender previously spent nine years in Hong Kong; she covered regional finance as a reporter for The Asian Wall Street Journal from 1998 to 2001 and was finance editor of The Far Eastern Economic Review from 1992 to 2001. She was a staff writer in New York for the Institutional Investor from 1985 to 1987, then moved to Tokyo as Asia bureau chief and was responsible for the magazine's Asian coverage. Sender received a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Rochester, a master's degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism and a Ph.D. in Asian history from the University of Wisconsin. Her book, Kashmiri Pandits: A Study of Cultural Choice in North India Up to 1930, focused on relations between Hindus and Muslims in pre-partition India and was published by Oxford University Press in 1981.
