Richard Sobel

Richard Sobel is CEO of Alfa Capital Partners, with overall responsibility for building and managing the business, recruiting the team, designing and launching funds, setting the investment strategy and directing the investment process. Sobel also serves as on the board of directors of Alfa Capital Partners, and of United Bakers and Noble Gibbons. He joined Alfa Capital Partners, Alfa Bank's private equity arm, in 2003. Previously, he co-founded and acted as the senior manager of Baring Asset Management's $160 million First NIS Regional Fund, SICAF. At Baring, one of the first major Western investment efforts in Russia, he designed the investment strategy and process, and directed the investment team. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics at Stanford University and an MBA at Harvard Business School.
