Thomas Boysen

Thomas Boysen is the Senior Vice President of Classroom Solutions with K12 Inc., which he joined in 2003. A former teacher and state education commissioner, Boysen has served as a school superintendent for 20 years in Washington State, New York and California, culminating in his work as San Diego County Superintendent of Schools. As Kentucky commissioner of education from 1990 to 1995, he led the implementation of the landmark Kentucky Education Reform Act, which has inspired many of the state and national education reforms of the past decade. He served as senior vice president of education at the Milken Family Foundation and later as COO of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Boysen began his career teaching high school science and geography for three years in Kenya. He earned a Ph.D. at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
